    Walking human-shaped robot going on sale- MSNBC.com

    Look out!

    Billed as a pleasing addition and a security device for upscale homes we've got walking and dancing robots coming our way (well technically only on sale in Japan.) Looks bizarre to me.

    Where Are We Headed?

    Normally this blog focuses on things happening at Wayside Theatre, Tablet PC's, and occasionally our family. Every now and then, I take the opportunity and space to comment on cultural or social issues when things strike me as unique, bizarre, upsetting or simply stupefying. This one falls in the latter two categories.

    I got this from Dvorak Uncensored this morning. It seems that Terry Schiavo's family has allowed the selling of a maling list of contributors to their cause. As someone says in the article linked below, that is decidedly American. In my opinion, it is decidedly distasteful.

    What strikes me as unsettling is that regardless of how one feels about this tragic and painful case, the media frenzy surrounding it and the political idiots who have tried to make hay out of it, is the fact that not only has this sad tale become our entertainment of the moment, it has now become a marketing and fundraising mechanism.

    Quite honestly, I am angry with all involved in this situation and find their actions on all sides deplorable. But this adds new ire to that fire.
